Our home cinema setup
Christina & I love watching good films. I’ve managed to build a small but very enjoyable home cinema system. Here are the components that I have:

This DVD has been replaced by an LG DVD/HD recorder…

How is MyT so far, is it a worthy offering and do you think it is sustainable?
Hi Shaan,
I have two confessions to make.
(1) I don’t watch TNT channels at all (I prefer Parabole Maurice)
(2) I don’t buy Pay-per-view films (except Lindsay Dookhit’s film which I bought months ago)
So, I don’t use the MyT service at all. I only use the wireless connection for my laptop. And, of course, I benefit from the increased bandwidth from 128 to 256kbit/s.
Is it LG DVD/HD recorder… or as you said LD DVD/HD recorder…? I said LG and you LD. The samsung 29″ i think you should replace it by a good HD TV – But i think if you do that replacement you’ll have to change some other components because those you have may not be compatible. So, LG or LD?
Hi,
Thanks for noticing. Of course, it’s LG. I still have my trusty Samsung 29″ TV. I’ll have to upgrade it one of these days…
hi
i’m ashwin and i work at….
actually going right to goal.. rate my home cinema
i purchase this set gonna get 5 years now, tell me if there is better.
i have an av amplifier sony STR-db1080
a sony subwoofer SA-WM200
a 22 inch samsung tv
a a set of 5 speaker tango
2 dvd player ,1 sony ,1pioneer,
1 tnt for local tv
and at last
1 broadband router for connecting to my private lan for accessing my pc to amplifier for my music collection
and thats all,.. please tell me if i need to upgrade or still going with it as, for me only my tv i want to change to a sony bravia that all… what advice do you give to me?????
To be frank, I am far from being a specialist…
And, secondly, if you are satisfied with what you have then it’s bound to be good
I’ve noticed that a lot depends on the speakers you have. Since upgrading my Pioneer speakers to much better Yamahas + a subwoofer, I’ve noticed a world of difference…
And, naturally, the TV you have is key. Mine is a Sony LCD now and I’m amazed by the image quality when the set is properly calibrated.
