Thank you to all of you who have sent me happy birthday wishes yesterday. For some time now, I wanted to be a tourist in my own country so I told Christina, Anya, Kyan and my parents that we’re going to have lunch at Trou d’Eau Douce, chez Tino, and drive along the east coast up to Blue-Bay. We did that and it was bliss. Mauritius is beautiful.
When we returned home in Quatre-Bornes after 150km of driving, my parents invited us for dinner at their place where we met my brother and his family. We had a lot of fun there.
Life is cool. Even when you’re getting old :-)

Ok I didn’t know it was your birthday. So let me wish you a belated Happy Birthday. And I agree Mauritius is indeed beautiful and trips to places you rarely go make you feel like a tourist and you wonder why there aren’t more people making trips like this. Well I guess the cost of petrol … I have been thinking of doing a round the island on a motorbike but I don’t yet have a license and I’m sure I’ll get myself killed if I judge by the lousy drivers we have here.

Hi,
I have a good DSLR, a Canon 60D. I use it with a great fixed 35mm f/2.0 lens. I take pictures in RAW format and, instead of using the native 18 megapixels, I only use 10 megapixels, which is more than enough for my needs.
I do spend quite some time working with the RAW files though. I use Canon’s Digital Photo Professional software which comes with the camera and it’s perfect for me.
It is only then that I get JPEG files which can be uploaded to Flickr, for example.
RAW is a must when doing digital photography. You have so many ways to enhance your photos and correct your mistakes. I tend to crop a lot, tweak the brightness and do a lot of colour correction.

So much fun playing tourist in this beautiful island of ours! We started doing that last month, with my husband, and we’ve seen some beautiful places so far and are planning to see many more!
And love your blog’s name btw! :)
