I’ve found out that many spam mails I get every day originate from some guy calling himself RK Communication. The companies using his “service” are (among others surely) :

Spamming is bad. If those companies do not change their policy, I think I shall boycott them !
YES!!! Now that the Fax and Email Directory 2003-2004 is out, the situation will get worse. And they charge a lot for their ads too.
I do beleive that there must be an (unofficial) link between them and Telcom Plus. Where did they get all the email addresses? Cookies? Common!

There is definitely someone at Telecom Plus illegaly supplying them with these e-mail addresses. I know for a fact that someone was in a position to obtain a CD containing all the phone numbers, fax numbers and e-mail addresses registered with Mauritius Telecom/Telecom Plus.
I do not think laws will change much about spamming because the boundaries where they apply are very fuzzy. It is just so easy to delocalise to a country where the laws do not apply.
Avinash, you may want to let RK COM hear from you. I know someone who successfully had his e-mail address removed from the spam list by being very “convincing”. Otherwise, another good thing to do is to consider all e-mail to be spam and filter those that you know are valid to different folders. When you do this, what will be left in your inbox will be the low priority messages, spam or messages from people that you do not know (low priority).

*cough* I think I have a copy of that but it’s quite old. 2004 I think.
Luckily for me, I don’t get spam by any of the above companies. Once I was getting spammed by a newly borned educational portal but after a nice email to its webmaster, they removed me from the mailing list. But again, that did not prevent me from marking them as spam and reported it..xD
ACD computers ltd are thieves anyway. They won’t honor their warranty of a product which I bought with them. I have all my documents, i think i’ll sue them now!
Personally, I’ve always have excellent service from them
