I’ve just come across a list of the Top 100 universities in the whole world compiled by the Institute of Higher Education of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China.
In the coming days, I’ll try to have a look at the Computer Science degree and masters programs offered in the 5 best universities (and, if possible, compare them to what is offered here at the University of Mauritius)
Here are the world’s top 5 universities :
- Harvard University
- University of Cambridge
- Stanford University
- University of Berkeley
- Massachusetts Institute of Technology
In progress…

I wonder do we have such rankings for african universities? where would uom and utm stand?

There are only four African universitites in the top 500. They are all in South Africa (Univ Cape Town, Univ Witwatersrand, Univ KwaZulu-Natal, Univ Pretoria)
I’m afraid that the UoM people (including myself) have a lot of work to do if we want to get in the list.
As for the UTM, I don’t really know the level there. Are the researchers any good? Anyone knows?

huh, I think to get on to the list, we’ve got to have R&D. USA, Canada, UK, Japan and others invest massively(especially USA) on more advanced technologies in nearly all fields like bio-medical, space, informatics, etc…
