Kiera Cameron shines in Continuum

Continuum is a TV show from 2012–2015 which Christina and I have just finished watching. It tells the story of Kiera Cameron, a detective from the year 2077 who finds herself trapped in the present day.

The main cast is Rachel Nichols as Kiera Cameron, Victor Webster as Carlos Fonnegra, Erik Knudsen as Alec Sadler and Stephen Lobo as Matthew Kellog. Kiera is from the future, Carlos is a cop from the present day, Alec, who is a precocious scientist, is from the present day too but is going to be the one who will rule in the future so his actions are important and Matthew is from the future but is very quick to change allegiance when needed and has a very soft spot for Kiera…

Other characters include the following from the future: Roger Cross as Travis Verta, Lexa Doig as Sonya Valentine, Luvia Petersen as Jasmine Garza, Terry Chen as Curtis Chen, Omari Newton as Lucas Ingram and the interesting Ian Tracey as Jason who, by the end of the TV show, will play an important role.

The ones from the present day are: Brian Markinson as Inspector Dillon, Jennifer Spence as Betty Robertson, Richard Harmon as Julian Randol and Magda Apanowicz as Emily.

For me, Continuum is all about Kiera Cameron. She is definitely one of the most beautiful detectives from the future I’ve ever seen. And she’s good as a police officer with futuristic weapons and knowledge.

FUBAR is fun and that’s it…

FUBAR is a TV which aired from 2023 to 2025 and tells the story of what happens “when a father and daughter discover they both secretly work for the CIA, an already dicey undercover mission turns into a dysfunctional family affair.

Luke Brunner (by Arnold Schwarzenegger) is the dad and agent extraordinaire of the CIA. Emma Brunner (by Monica Barbaro) is the daughter who is also a CIA agent. Funnily, neither of them knows that they work for the same agency.

Tally Brunner (by Fabiana Udenio) is the former wife of Luke and is supposed to marry Donnie (by Andy Buckley) while Emma’s boyfriend is Carter (by Jay Baruchel). Neither knows what is going to happen to them: Donnie being engaged to a CIA agent’s former wife and Carter having as girlfriend a CIA agent.

As the series progresses, Emma joins Luke’s team with dear Barry Putt (by Milan Carter), Aldon Reese (by Travis Van Winkle) and Roo (by Fortune Feimster). This is where the TV show shows some limitations: these three are too caricatural. A little toning down would have been good. Dr Pfeffer (by Scott Thompson) is a much needed CIA psychologist to make things click when they start unclicking.

The baddies are Tina Mukerji (by Aparna Brielle), Greta Nelso (by Carrie-Anne Moss) and a quite formidable Theodore Chips (by Guy Burnet). The “chemistry” between Emma and Theodore is hilarious.

All in all, FUBAR is slightly above average. It’s entertaining but, in our era of what is happening at the world level, CIA agents killing everyone in sight does not make a good impression.

An alcoholic but tenacious Flight Attendant

As explained on IMDb, The Flight Attendant is the story of “a reckless flight attendant with alcoholism wakes up in the wrong hotel, in bed with a dead man, and no idea what happened. Unable to piece the night together she begins to wonder if she could be the killer.”

Christina and I finished the TV show a week ago and we liked it a lot. Kaley Cuoco who plays the flight attendant is a very good actress with a great range. We discovered her in The Big Bang Theory as Penny.

In the show, Cassie Bowden, the flight attendant, has some serious daddy issues. His dad, Hank Bowden (by Jason Jones), was an alcoholic and so is she. She started to drink when she was just a young Cassie (played by Audrey Grace Marshall).

Cassie meets Alex Sokolov (by Michiel Huisman) on a flight and they spend the night together. The next morning, Cassie wakes up with a dead Alex.

With her flight attendant / international spy friend Megan Briscoe (by Rosie Perez) as well as CIA agents Shane Evans (by Griffin Matthews) and Benjamin Berry (by Mo McRae), Cassie does her best to find the killer(s). They are not so helpful.

Fortunately, Cassie can count on her best friend Annie Mouradian (by Zosia Mamet), a formidable cursing lawyer, and Max Park (by Deniz Akdeniz), Annie’s “fiancé”, to help her in her quest. They are way more reliable than any international or local spy…

The main baddies in the TV show are Miranda Croft (by Michelle Gomez) and Buckley Ware / Feliks (by Colin Woodell) and, of course, I won’t reveal what happens to them.
