Hi, I am Avinash Meetoo and I am happy to welcome you here.

I teach and do research in Computer Science. I am also an amateur photographer and musician. I use an Apple MacBook, Mac OS X, Linux and a lot of open source software. I am married to Christina and we have two wonderful kids, Kyan & Anya. In case you are wondering, Noulakaz means “our home” in my native language, créole. I’ve been blogging since March 2004.

I am currently a Lecturer in Computer Science in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of the University of Mauritius. My areas of interest are: Concurrency and Parallelism, Programming Languages, Software Architectures and Web 2.0.

I am well known in geekland as the founder of the Linux User Group of Mauritius. Consequently, I am regularly invited to participate in Linux-related activities in Mauritius where people expect me to give presentations and lectures… Find my presentations in OpenOffice.org Impress and/or Open Document format here.

I am a Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).

      Hi Avinash,
Hope you remember me. I think we met when you came for training in Currimjee Jeewanjee and then I saw you in MCCI. Just discovered you blog.
Getting interested to make one of my own. Would need some help as I know little programming.
By the way how much time does it take per week.
      Good continuation.

      Hi Kailash,

Blogging is easy and does not require any programming skills. Just go on wordpress.com and start a blog.

As for the time required, I would say that it all depends on you and what you want to express!

      hello Sir,

i’ve notice you are not taking parallel lectures and no project supervision this year. i guess the rumors are right..

anyway just wanna add it was really great working with you despite not having great marks i feel that i’ve learned a lot :)
there is something in the way you lecture that doesn’t make the module boring
      :P

had great fun in parallel and surprisingly, it was together with programming languages by favourite modules of the whole course.

was Really nice knowing someone like you
      All the best
      Cheers!

      Hi Vicks,

Thanks for the nice words. It’s true. I’m leaving the university. Don’t forget what’s truly important: “Never stop learning…”
