Just to let you know that there is a very interesting discussion on Slashdot on the matter of the Danish cartoons and Donald Rumsfeld’s crazy ideas…
Concerning the cartoons, personally, I think that things has been blown out of proportion.

Well, first, there’s the liberty of expression. In Europe, it’s a fundamental right. Then comes the sensitive thing - to criticise God. I think it depends on cultures. Some cultures are just more open and accept criticism more than others. In some cultures, such a thing is unacceptable.
Perhaps it depends on the “maturity” to accept criticism, as a French analyst said. Then comes how come the world in the “Muslim” or “Arab” world came to know of it? Someone must have propagated the news and keeping in mind to fuel violence in the Arab/Muslim world against the West…

Dilray, I support your point of view. The outrage of the Muslims is justified, but they cannot ask for their “justice” to be applied in a country where liberty of expression is a fundamental right. And, as such, I support the Danish authorities to refuse categorically to “negotiate” with them.
